We have a wide range of tubular and honeycomb cores available. All of these cores are made from individual tubes, soldered together to produce the two types of vintage radiator core in popular use.

All  cores are manufactured using 70/30 brass tube, dipped in 50/50 tin / lead solder, to their front and back faces to allow a capillary action sealing of the core.

The cores can be build flat, curved, vee’d or sloping as per your requirements. The cores are constructed rectangular and are easily profiled to your required shape by removing excess tubes to attain your required shape.

Flared tube ends type

In this type of construction the ends of the individual lengths of tube are expanded and when the tubes are stacked together a space is created between the adjacent tubes which give an area for the coolant to flow down. As water flows through the spaces and across the outside face of the tubes, air passes through the tube and reduces the temperature of the coolant. The tube ends are expanded into the shape of a circle or a square end. They can also be expanded into a hexagon shape, more commonly known as the honeycomb. We can use tubes of 5, 6, 7 & 8 mm diameter and flare the tube ends to 6, 7, 8, and 9 mm for round end tubes and 7mm or 8mm for hexagon end tubes.

Wire spaced tubes ends type

In this type of construction a square tube is used and the tube ends are not expanded but held apart from one another with a 1mm diameter wire. Again when the tubes are stacked together with the wire between, a space is created between the adjacent tubes which give an area for water to flow down. As water flows through the spaces and across the outside face of the tubes, air passes through the tubes and reduces the temperature of the coolant.
